After eight years as a statistical analyst at a health benefit management company, Copeland earned a business administration degree from the University of North Texas and a law degree from Texas Wesleyan University, graduating in the top 17 percent of her class. She then worked two years at Safe Haven, a domestic violence shelter and counseling center serving Tarrant County, before founding her own law practice in 2007. She serves on the board of Wise Hope, a domestic violence shelter serving Wise and Jack Counties.
