Michelle E. Smith, formerly known as Michelle Pennies, was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas in 2003, attended law school in Miami, Florida, and received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio in 2010. She is licensed to practice law in Texas and holds the certification required by the Texas Estates Code to represent litigants in guardianship proceedings. She serves as a board member for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in El Paso and for El Pasoans for Life, Fatherhood and Pregnancy Help Services.
