John Schmude is board certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He served as the Presiding Judge of the 247th Family District Court of Harris County, Texas from January 2015 through December 2018, during which he disposed of more than 13,000 family law cases, including complex divorce, custody, adoption, and paternity matters, and presided over more than 400 contested bench trials. Prior to his election to the bench, he served as President of Schmude Law Firm. He now practices family law mediation and arbitration at Schmude Mediations, PLLC.
